How it is to be evaluated by others?

I like this peer evaluation session. I prefer others to share their ideas, opinions and comments about what I have presented. I believe individual work will get better and improved by others’ comments and critics. Therefore, I think this kind of approach is very helpful and effective to my presentation enhancement. This will guide me to do better in the next task. Besides, it helps me to face the real situation in classroom. However, I hope this opportunity to evaluate others will not turn to personal attack session. Some people will grab this chance to critic person that they do not like. To me, it is very ridiculous to do so because it is supposedly be a beneficial and knowledgeable gathering. Not the emotional expression forum. Furthermore, evaluated by others especially friends are not a matter at all. The fact that we know each other make it easier to give opinion. To me, I do not feel ashamed or offended by their comments. Indeed, I appreciate my peer for their attention and support. Thanks guys!

How I evaluate others?

I evaluate my peers in many aspects. Although I am not an expert, I think I could share my opinion about their presentation. But first and foremost, I think the evaluation form that has been provided is not suitable because we have to put our name on it. It is better if the ‘teacher’ does not know who is giving the comments.
Second, I would consider for the evaluation is the set induction. I think the best way to attract students’ attention is by giving an interesting pre-presentation. In fact, students always think that literature is a boring subject. Therefore, teacher should prepare as attractive as he/she can to motivate them. Third; the activity in the pre and while reading stage. It should be appropriate for secondary school level. It is very important to set questions that suit them. The activities could not be too difficult nor to easy.
Forth, I will look at their presentation performance. Some teachers were not having an eye contact with their students. And some were like mumbling to themselves and even talking to the white board. Their gestures were also distracting if they can not stay still or always walking back and forth. Besides, the voice projection is also counted. There were teachers who using a monotonous tone and some could not help with their accent and hesitation. Teacher should also beware of their used of language. Some grammatical mistake is acceptable to me. But if it is been repeated for so many times, the teacher should work on it.
I also take into consideration if the teacher would summarize all the activities to the students. Sometimes, students can not relate it themselves. Teacher should assist them in order to get a successful learning session.

Shakespeare Wallah

We were asked by our lecturer to watch a movie related to our study on drama. Therefore, on February 21, 2008 we got the opportunity to watch it; “Shakespeare Wallah”. The movie is about a group of Britain who temporarily stayed in India to perform the Shakespeare’s collections of plays. They traveled to one place and another in order to show their enthusiasm towards the playwright’s masterpieces. Plus, they were trying their very best to preserved the plays from extinction and forgotten.
As the plot progress, they found that the emergence of movie production contribute to the less interest in watching theatre. People are preferred to watch movie at the cinema rather than the live performance of theatre on stage. One of the antagonist character said that the world of theatre is dirty and bad. She referred to the costumes, props and their acting. However, those bad perceptions and accuses were ignored by the group even tough it was hard for them to. Besides, the challenges they faced, such as the death of one of the members in the group had lessen their spirit to go on with their acting.
But then, the love story between the protagonist and the beautiful young lady in the group had at least rainbow this movie. Their relationship was eventually led to the one of the conflict in the movie. The protagonist did not like the world of fame and found it hard when his lover became popular.
In conclusion, “Shakespeare Wallah” presents to us the acceptance of theatre by public in this modern age. Only some of us are still like and enjoy watching live play. But for most, movie promise a better entertainment.
